It was fun for us just to take off in the car, just the two of us, and because she was this totally lovable nutcase she’d say, “Try and get lost.” I’d say, “Darling, you know, when you’re driving you don’t try to get lost, that’s the last thing you want to do. You have to navigate.” She’d say, “No, no, try and get lost. Turn off here.” I’d be saying, “But I’ve no idea where that leads to.” She’d say, “Do it.” Okay, so I’d turn off and we’d be in magic land — we’d be somewhere we’d never been before, a little shop we’d never seen before, we’d see all these wonderful little villages that we didn’t know existed. So, sure enough, Linda was right — you could get lost in all this magic and, as she knew, soon enough there would be a big sign saying “West End, London, This Way.” She was right, you couldn’t get lost.
